A partnership effort offering technical and financial assistance to improve forest health and reduce high severity fire in critical areas.
Overview
Description:
Forest health treatments and fire resilience go hand in hand. Thinned forests offer less material to burn and more resources to remaining trees. This results in larger, healthier trees that have a better chance of withstanding fires, and gives fire managers more options during prescribed and wildfire operations.
This partnership, between WA Department of Natural Resources, Cascadia Conservation District, Chelan County Public Utilities Department, and USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service, provides a streamlined approach to multiple avenues and options for technical assistance and implementation of healthy resilient forests.

Streamside Restoration and Enhancement: In addition to healthy forests, healthy streamside areas are critical to community and ecological health–as a living fire break, protecting drinking water, and for vital wildlife habitat. If you are interested in streamside restoration and enhancement, in addition to or separate from forest health treatments, please fill out the form on the website, or call or email Cascadia Conservation District.
Eligibility:
Must own forestland in Wenatchee Valley and be located in Chelan County.
Financial benefit:
Financial benefits vary per project.
