Water quality monitoring and restoration projects to address water quality issues in local Douglas County watersheds.

Overview

Description:

Foster Creek CD is currently implementing water quality monitoring and riparian restoration projects throughout the county to address water quality issues. The monitoring and projects are based on recommendations from the Watershed Management Plan for Moses Coulee and Foster Creek Watersheds WRIA 44 & 50. Our current projects involve planting riparian vegetation to improve the stream’s connection with the floodplain, increase stream shading, increase filtration, and decrease turbidity.

We want to hear about your project! If you have concerns about stream reaches on your property or want to restore riparian areas and reap the benefits of restoration, please contact FCCD.

The Benefits of Riparian Restoration:
• Protect stream banks to reduce erosion, stop stream incision, and the loss of your property downstream
• Funding is available for off-stream water sites and fencing
• Improve forage quality
• Improve fish and wildlife habitat
• Combat noxious weed invasion
• Increase your property value

Eligibility:

Douglas County resident, landowner, land manager, or producer.

Financial benefit:

Cost-share available for restoration planting
