Overview

Description:

Enabled under the State Growth Management Act, the VSP is an alternative to traditional top-down regulations for the protection of critical areas on agricultural land. Washington has 27 counties enrolled in VSP. As a citizen of Pacific County there may be opportunities available to you through VSP to receive on-site, expert assistance to develop a stewardship plan for your property.

The VSP applies to commercial and non-commercial operations regardless of scale and are inclusive of all types of agriculture and aquaculture.

Funding may be available to help you put in practices that protect critical areas, such as fences or improved pastures and paddocks.

You can help by participating in your county VSP work group – building the future of your county, your farm, and our environment.

VSP protects 5 critical areas of conservation:
- Wildlife Habitat
- Wetlands
- Frequently Flooded
- Aquifer Recharge
- Geologically Hazardous

Eligibility:

Must be an agricultural producer in Pacific County with critical areas of the environment on your property.

Financial benefit:

Cost Share is available for qualifying landowners. To encourage conservation practices and agricultural improvements that lead to more efficient resource conservation we offer cost-share funds. To receive cost-share funds a landowner must get approval from the conservation district before the project happens. The funds for the cost-share program comes from both public and private sources depending on the nature of the project.
