The UCD Farm Tool Library is designed to provide conservation-oriented tools, such as a wheel plow, various seeders, broadforks, and a no-till drill, to farmers and gardeners. In order to borrow tools, one must first become a member. Tools are checked out online (https://ucdtoollibrary.myturn.com/library/) where you can create a membership, view pictures of the tools in the inventory, check availability, and reserve tools. (Check out our Farm Tool Library Website Guide. We welcome volunteers, and there are a variety of odd jobs needed! Viable, working lands are essential to maintaining the rural character of Klickitat and Skamania Counties. UCD supports agricultural operations and small farms by serving farmers and livestock owners with technical assistance, soil sampling, livestock Best Management Practice financial assistance via cost-share, educational resources, and the new Farm Tool Library.
LARGER FARM TOOLS OFFERED
The implements will now be available for pickup at the Hunsaker’s gas station in White Salmon, reserve online here.
Yeomans Plow: UCD is pleased to provide a Yeomans Plow L43-9 to our district. The Yeomans Plow is a three shank subsoiler with a detachable roller/crumbler, designed to provide aeration, breakup compaction, and increase soil fertility. It can also be used for contour farming and help prevent moisture runoff and gullying. Ideal time for subsoiling will likely be early to mid-late October, depending on the rain. Some moisture is ideal for maximum effect.
The Yeomans Plow is a large implement, the toolbar is 9’ wide and it weighs around 2,500 lbs. It takes a large tractor to operate, minimum 80+HP and 9,000 lbs. or more. It is not particularly easy to transport, and we are working with a local producer to potentially provide it as a service instead of, or in addition to, renting it out like our no-till drill. In this case, we would show up with the tractor and Yeomans Plow to do the work. The rental can be arranged as well if you have a capable tractor. There is no trailer.
Whatever use you find for this implement, it is our hope that it can help you increase soil fertility, moisture retention and productivity in your operation in a cost effective and efficient manner.
Please contact us if you are, or could be interested in using the Yeomans Plow, or simply if have any questions about it: ucdtoollibrary@ucdwa.org or 509-493-1936, ext. 7.
Manure Spreader: UCD is excited to offer a manure spreader for rent. Over the years we have worked with many livestock owners to build manure storage and composting facilities and provide technical assistance on manure composting and spreading guidelines. The Mill Creek Brand manure spreader is ground driven and has a 57 cubic foot capacity. The spreader and transport trailer are available for a rental fee of $65 per 2-day rental. Please review the Operator’s Manual before renting.

No-Till Drill: UCD is excited to offer a Land Pride 3P500V Seed Drill for rent. The drill and transport trailer are available for a rental fee of $165, for a 2-day rental.
At 52” wide, this drill is ideal for small pastures/fields and between vineyard and orchard rows. It is not appropriate for large acreages. Please review our Operation Guidelines, Rental Agreement, and Rental Return Checklist, as well as the manufacturer’s Operation Manual and Seeding Rate Manual for more information.
NEW! Check out this informative video made by local agricultural producer Will Lyons, with step-by-step instructions on how to calibrate the drill and get the most out of your rental.
