Description:
Rural Energy Development for Washington is a statewide program that helps implement renewable energy and energy efficiency projects on farms and rural small businesses by providing:
- Education about energy conservation options and incentives
- Technical assistance and assessment of site feasibility for clean energy projects
- Grant writing for state and federal grant and loan programs
*All services are provided free of charge
Farmers or business owners interested in installing a renewable energy or an energy efficiency project are invited to submit an Assistance Request Form on the website and PCD will follow up with more information about how to get started.
We work with partners such as Spark Northwest and Snohomish Conservation District to offer assistance for all of Washington State. Switching to renewable energy or energy efficient equipment can be expensive. That’s why there are resources out there to help you make the switch.
Rural Energy for America Program:
The USDA Rural Development Rural Energy for America Program, also known as REAP, is a grant program for small rural businesses and agricultural producers interested in making the transition to renewable energy and other energy efficiency improvements. Eligible projects include solar, energy efficient heating and lighting, ductless heat pumps, wind, and bioenergy. This program provides financial benefits to businesses by offering up to 50% grants for labor, equipment, and miscellaneous costs like permitting and net metering fees. Grant application deadlines occur quarterly: March 31, June 30, September 30, and December 31.

Eligibility:
There is a wide variety of clean energy options available for your farm or rural small business. Pierce Conservation District can evaluate your site and pair you up with the right contractor and incentives to implement any of these energy conservation projects: solar array, solar heating, microhydro, energy efficiency, wind, bioenergy.

Financial benefits vary per project, but are available in the form of loans.
