Funding for nearshore ecosystem restoration projects in the Puget Sound

Overview

Description:

The Puget Sound Nearshore Ecosystem Restoration Project (PSNERP) is an initiative led by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps). A significant outcome of this effort was to designate Puget Sound as eligible for federal Corps aquatic ecosystem restoration funding, similar to other waterbodies around the country such as the Everglades, Chesapeake Bay, and the Great Lakes. Through a report, which can be found on the website, areas of the puget sound were identified as opportunities for ecosystem restoration that would receive federal funding.

This funding is available to landowners committed to restoration projects as well as public lands.

Eligibility:

Must have shorefront property within the bounds of identified projects. Please contact the program provider to verify eligibility.

Financial benefit:

The restoration cost varies per project size
