Overview

Description:

OAT helps Oregon farmers and ranchers permanently protect their land and keep it in production. Landowners may donate or sell a working land easement to limit future subdivision, development and other rights that interfere with farming. OAT works on a voluntary basis with willing landowners.

Eligibility:

Project criteria include high quality soils, sufficient water rights, and farm or ranch acreage larger than average for the county in which the property is located. In addition, OAT's 5-year Farm and Ranch Protection Plan identifies Investment Zones of highest priority farm and ranch land for protection.

Financial benefit: 

Landowners can receive a charitable tax credit and/or cash
