Incidental take permit with completion of a conservation plan for the species of interest to balance farms with habitat.
Overview
Description:
Douglas County has a Multiple Species General Conservation Plan designed to preserve and enhance habitat for the four endangered or threatened species of interest (the Greater Sage Grouse, Columbian Sharp-tailed Grouse, Columbia Basin Pygmy Rabbit, and the Washington Ground Squirrel) while preserving farming for the future. Recognizing the impact farmers have on habitat and economy, Foster Creek Conservation District is committed to helping landowners apply for an incidental take permit after completing a farm plan so that landowners may be protected from regulatory burden while supporting habitat in a way that satisfies US Fish and Wildlife regulations. Talk with a planner at FCCD to keep your farm economically viable while preserving habitat for future generations of people and animals.
Eligibility:
Douglas County resident, landowner, land manager, or producer.
Financial benefit:
Although no financial benefit is offered through this program directly, a farm plan would be created that can be used by other funding agencies like the NRCS.
