Overview
Description:
Complex water challenges in the Klamath Basin have led to wetland drying on public and private lands in this important and iconic piece of the Pacific Flyway. Cooperative farming programs in the Klamath Basin National Wildlife Refuge Complex were once a popular option for farmers who provided wetland habitat on private lands, but these programs have shrunk along with the refuge water allocations required to keep the program viable. The Klamath Basin Farming and Wetland Collaborative Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) will harness Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) conservation practices and Farm Bill conservation funds to incentivize wetland management on farms and sustain waterbird habitat in the Klamath Basin.
