Overview
Description:
Forest Carbon Works (FCW) promotes long term land conservation and forest stewardship through carbon projects, enabling landowners to earn money for the carbon offsets secured by their forests. At FCW, we offer free pilot inventories for landowners owning as little as 40 forested acres. Traditionally, forest carbon projects have only been feasible for landowners with at least 5,000 acres due to prohibitive costs. Forest Carbon Works has overcome these barriers via a combination of innovative technology and a boots-on-the-ground inventory approach, on-staff forester expertise, and improved program efficiencies. Our services are free, and payments can range from $10 per acre per year to over $100, depending on forest type and location and can assist landowners with long term management and conservation goals. Current projects range from 52 to 3,000+ acres in size, from coast-to-coast. Typical project development is 12-18 months, and credits are compliance-grade, with the highest pricing available. Payments are distributed annually for a minimum of 25 years. If you own forest land and are interested in a forest carbon project, please visit our website create an account and submit an application. It's quick and easy with our Membership Advisors to help you along the way: ForestCarbonWorks.com or call 800-399-5246.
Eligibility:
Privately owned, minimum 40 acres, located in the lower 48, up to date on taxes, no easement on timber harvest (harvest must be legally allowed, but NOT required).
Financial benefit:
Varies; dependent upon forest type, size, stocking and how much harvesting is limited. The crediting period is 25-75 years, with re-evaluations every 6 years, at which time the stewardship or harvesting goals for the following 6 years can be redetermined.
