Overview

Description:

Fires are nothing new to the northwest, but the extent and severity of them in the last half century are. Multiple centuries of intentional and unintentional exclusion of indigenous fires, just over a century of fire suppression and intensive timber harvests, along with a warming climate have shaped how we experience fire today.

Luckily, forest health treatments also can help reduce fire severity, helping your forest and property withstand a wildfire and benefit from it as well. It can be hard to know where to start, what you need to do to keep your trees healthy, or where to prioritize your time and money, but Cascadia Conservation District provides technical assistance to forest owners, ranging from a small backyard forest to hundreds of acres. We can also help you find financial assistance that is appropriate for your goals and objectives, whether that is through us or one of our partners.

Intentional management of your forest can help save your home, your trees, and wildlife habitat from wildfire. Work can be contracted out of completed by applicant. Cost of treatment is reimbursed after work is completed. Treatments that have already been completed prior to application are not eligible for cast share. Landowners who have completed a Firewise treatment around their home may still be eligible for continued cost share on the rest of their property

Call us today to see how we can help with your forestry goals.
