Overview

Description:

Worried about erosion in your fields? Have a concern for polluting streams, air, and wildlife areas? The Lincoln County Conservation District and the Adams Conservation District have teamed up to provide you a cost share opportunity to address these concerns. Direct seeding is a planting and fertilizing option that reduces soil disturbance. This provides better residue retention, increasing moisture retention and preventing erosion. With less soil disturbance, direct seeding mitigates negative environmental impacts from excessive runoff while improving soil productivity.

Our goal is to assist producers in renting direct seed equipment or by custom seeding. Sharing the cost of trying this conservation practice can help you get over the financial barrier to implement this practice. Direct Seed can help you reduce your soil loss and in the long run help you save fuel, labor time, and wear down of machinery.

Eligibility:

To be eligible, the producer must:
- Be a first-time direct seeder (if you're interested in trying it, this program is for you!)
- Must rent a direct seed drill or hire someone to work for them
- Must live in Adams or Lincoln Counties

Financial benefit:

With a valid cost-share agreement, LCCD will provide up to 3 seeding per producer until June 30th, 2024.

Costs will be reimbursed up to $28/acre for up to 250 acres per seeding.
Invoices must be submitted for reimbursement once the work is completed.
