Overview
Description:
Viable, working lands are essential to maintaining the rural character of Klickitat and Skamania Counties. UCD supports agricultural operations and small farms by serving farmers and livestock owners with technical assistance, livestock Best Management Practice financial assistance via cost-share, educational resources, and a small number of tools for rent or loan.
Technical assistance:
This can include site visits from UCD staff, conservation and nutrient management planning services, and basic nutrient soil sampling information.
Financial assistance:
Cost-share for projects is available on a case-by-case basis. Past projects have included livestock exclusion fencing, manure management infrastructure, composting structures, riparian planting, and livestock watering facilities.
Education:
UCD has a variety of printed and electronic materials, books that are available to borrow, and other educational resources.
